Bamboo and Fern

One day I decided to quit...
I quitted my job, my relationship, my spirituality ...
I wanted to quit my life.
I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.
"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"

His answer surprised me...
"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"
"Yes", I said.

"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamoboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo." He said, "In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit." In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. "I would not quit." He said. "Then in the fith year, a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant... But just 6 months later, the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it when it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle."

He said to me "Did you know, my child, all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots?"
"I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you."
"Don't compare yourself to others." He said.
"The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful."
"Your time will come," God said to me. "You will rise high!"
"How high should I rise?" I asked.
"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.
"As high as it can?" I questioned.
"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."
I left the forest and brought back this story.

Always remember that God will never give up on you.
Never regret a day in your life
Good days give you happiness
Bad days give you experiences
Both are essential to life
Keep going ...

Book, movie and reminders...

My eyes hurt... left eye. I wonder if it is because i did not have enough sleep, cry too much  ~ reading a book called My Story by David L Pelzer or ... sore eyes. haha. I did not see anything dirty!!! haha. ;p

The story: Dave Pelzer shares his unforgettable story of the many abuses he suffered at the hands of his alcoholic mother and the averted eyes of his neglectful father. Someone with no one to turn to, his dreams barely kept him alive. Through each of his struggles, readers will find themselves enduring his pain, comforting his loneliness and fighting for his will to survive. This compelling story will awaken you to the horrifying truth about child abuse -- and the ability we have to make a difference.

I managed to watch the movie "Music and Lyrics". The story is about:

Alex Fletcher, a washed-up '80s pop star, has been reduced to working the nostalgia circuit at county fairs and amusement parks. The charismatic and talented musician gets a chance at a comeback when reigning diva Cora Corman invites him to write and record a duet with her, but there's a problem--Alex hasn't written a song in years, he's never written lyrics, and he has to come up with a hit in a matter of days. Enter Sophie Fisher, Alex's beguilingly quirky plant lady, whose flair for words strikes a chord with the struggling songwriter. On the rebound from a bad relationship, Sophie is reluctant to collaborate with anyone, especially commitment-phobe Alex. As their chemistry heats up at the piano and under it, Alex and Sophie will have to face their fears--and the music--if they want to find the love and success they both deserve.

A reminder to me once again!

God is sovereign, loving, and wise. “But this guy I like hasn't pursued me. How do I resolve the fear that he won't notice me unless I take some initiative?” You may ask. Enter: the character of God. Human reasoning would say that this is incentive enough to buck the created order. However, we must hold fast to God’s Word and trust in His character. God is intimately involved in every detail of our lives (down to the hairs on our head). We must trust that His sovereignty is more than powerful enough, His love is more than true enough, and His wisdom more than knowledgeable enough to fulfill His perfect plan for us. This perfect plan may or may not include the desired relationship. But it will most definitely be for our good. As a single woman, Psalm 84:10-12 was my hope ~
Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you

God rewards our trust in Him. We don’t say “no” to our feelings and “yes” to God’s Word without a fight. And yet, there is joy and peace and freedom to be had. Psalm 131’s description of the weaned child, not concerned with things too lofty or wonderful, comes to mind. So does 1 Peter 3 and the woman whose beauty is of great worth in the sight of God because she does not “fear anything that is frightening.” Waiting and responding instead of initiating romantic relationships is not some kind of manipulative trick. It is the path to true attractiveness, the miraculous kind that only comes by the grace of God producing trust in God. For truly blessed is the woman who does not sinfully strive after a relationship, but quietly rests in the goodness of God!

How to be a Good friend?

I have been thinking what makes a friend a good friend to me. Here's something to ponder:

HOW TO BE
A GOOD FRIEND

To have good friends you must be a good friend. Here are some of the ways good friends treat each other:

• Good friends listen to each other.

• Good friends don't put each other down or hurt each other's feelings.

• Good friends try to understand each other's feelings and moods.

• Good friends help each other solve problems.

• Good friends give each other compliments.

• Good friends can disagree without hurting each other.

• Good friends are dependable.

• Good friends respect each other.

• Good friends are trustworthy.

• Good friends give each other room to change.

• Good friends care about each other.

Lesson No. 1

I am bz preparing for Myanmar Mission Trip now. It's so tiring... work plus studying. It's not easy ... but is fun. It's exciting as I search through the internet for the games that I wanna play, etc.

Now I am down with a bad flu... Thank God I got my medicine earlier. Now, I have a sandy throat. Hope it gets better soon.

Hope Jenny also found someone to go with her to the concert this Saturday cos I don't think I can make it. Felt a bit pai-seh. But no choice la.

Today I learnt a lesson i.e. to be humble and submit to authorities.

Good lesson to learn and I am very thankful. I gave up ...and listen to God.
